Supplementing the Pet Shield

What to do if you still find a flea or tick on your pet:

The BioPower Pet Shield Tag is appropriate for the vast majority of pets and their lifestyles and will keep them flea and tick free. However, there are several factors that influence how difficult it will be to keep your pet pest-free, and in some cases it may be necessary to supplement the tag with other natural pest repellent approaches.

First of all, please make sure that the tag is on your pet at all times, its effectiveness will be significantly reduced if it is not. Secondly, please don't forget about the 3-4 week activation period, it will not reach its full effectiveness until the end of that period.

Overall there are a number of factors that affect the ability to keep pests off of your pet:

  • The amount of pests in the environment - this is mild to moderate for most parts of the country for most of the year, but there are exceptions - for example in heavily forested or swampy areas and at certain times of the year, especially in the spring during hatching season.
  • The severity of this year's season - the prevalence of pests can vary greatly from one year to the next in the same area based on weather conditions, so one summer the difficulty of keeping pests away can increase dramatically from the prior one.
  • The amount of time the pet spends outdoors - if the pet lives outside most or all of the time it makes it more challenging to keep pests away, again depending to a large extent on the local environment.
  • The health of the pet - the less healthy the animal the more pests will be attracted to it, so please be aware that a pet with a chronic health condition or an older pet will be more susceptible to pests. Feeding your pet a healthy diet high in animal protein will help maximize its health and vitality and is part of a holistic pest control strategy.

So when using a natural pest repellent approach, in some cases it may be necessary to use a multi-layered strategy with more than one natural solution - which would include the BioPower Pet Shield Tag as the foundation, for it will do most of the work.

The best option for boosting the effectiveness of the tag is our Pet Shield Chews, which you feed your pet daily as a treat or in their food. These tasty soft chews are made of 100% natural ingredients that include an array of B vitamins and a healthy amount of garlic - both of which are known to make dogs and cats less attractive to pests. They also contain the same pest-repelling energy frequencies contained in the tag, so the effect is double!

We also offer our Pet Shield Spray that can be a helpful addition for use on an occasional as needed basis. This you simply spray on your pet before they go outdoors.

Please remember that no natural approach to pest control is going to be 100% effective 100% of the time. Conventional treatments that rely on chemical pesticides to poison the pests can get close to 100% - because they are poison and poison always works. But putting poison on or in your pet's body is of course not good for their health, so please be patient and go to the extra trouble to use the natural approach.

In summary, for the vast majority of pets the BioPower Pet Shield Tag will be all they need for effective pest control, but if some of the factors mentioned above are an issue, it may be necessary to supplement with another natural pest repellent approach from time to time, and we highly recommend the Pet Shield Chews (which offer additional health benefits, by the way).

Please note that if you have a dog over 100 pounds that two tags are necessary to be fully effective. Two tags on a dog under 100 pounds will likely not make a significant difference, but will not hurt anything.
